Mykonos Airport - All Information on Mykonos International Airport (JMK)

Mykonos Airport, or Mykonos International Airport, is the airport on the Greek island Mykonos, an island that is part of the Cyclades island group southeast of mainland Greece.

The airport is located 3.5-4 km/2.1-2.4 mi from Chora/Mykonos Town, the island's main village located on the west coast. It serves domestic flights as well as international flights within Europe, Tel Aviv, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Doha. Some of the flights are seasonal operating during the summers which is the peak season.

Mykonos Airport first began operating in 1971 and its IATA code is JMK and the ICAO code is LGMK. It has one asphalt runway of 6,244 m/1,903 ft and the, so far, peak year for passenger movements through the airport was 2019 when the airport saw 1,520,145 passengers come through. The same year saw 18,801 aircraft movements. There is one single passenger terminal housing all flights and passengers.

As of April 11, 2017 Mykonos Airport, along with 13 other Greek airports, is managed by the joint venture of Fraport AG and Copelouzos Group in an agreement with the Greek state privatization fund. The agreement states that the joint venture will operate the airports for 40 years. A master plan for updating the airports was presented even before the handover, on March 22, 2017, including the offering of free WiFi connection, upgrading sanitary facilities, expanding and remodeling the terminal, a new fire station, increase of check-in counters from 12 to 16, increase of departure gates from 6 to 7 and increase of security check lanes from 4 to 5 in the first stage set to be finished in 2021.
