Tourist Attractions on Mykonos

Mykonos is one of the islands in the Cyclades group in the Greek archipelago in the Aegean Sea. It is located southwest of the Greek Mainland. The island is very popular and well-known for its buzzing nightlife, beautiful beaches and of course history. Getyourguide.com has listed some of the activities available on the island and below is a taste of what is offered.

Mykonos: South Coast Beach Hopping Boat Tour with BBQ Lunch

The yacht trip departs from Agios Ioannis located a 10 minute drive from Mykonos Town from where it will cruise around the south coast of Mykonos island with stops at some famous beaches, such as Paradise, Super Paradise and Elia, as well as a secluded gulf.

The yacht will stop in various locations where you can dive into the crystal clear waters using the complimentary snorkeling equipment available on board, swim, or relax on the yacht’s wide deck and soak up the sunshine and the fresh air.

The tour is 5 hours long and unlimited drinks and refreshments, not including spirits and cocktails, and some fruit is available on board, and as the yacht sails along the coast you get to enjoy a freshly prepared BBQ while enjoying the stunning scenery.

Hotel transfer can be selected as an option, and vegetarian options for the BBQ can be requested in advance. Passengers are barefoot on board the yacht and are requested to bring swimsuit, hat and sunscreen as well as their ID or passport.

Mykonos: Half-Day City Walking Tour and Island Bus Tour

This 4-hour combined tour begins with a walking tour of Chora/Mykonos Town and its small, narrow streets. Your guide will take you to see the small port and the churches as well as Petros the Pelican, the mascot of Mykonos and the famous windmills, and the guide will include some orientation and information about navigating the labyrinth of the old town.

After the walking tour of Mykonos, the town, you will board a bus and begin a journey to explore Mykonos, the island. See the small private chapels and the houses built in the typical Cycladic style, enjoy the landscapes of the inland and visit some of its most famous beaches.

In Ano Mera, the second main village on Mykonos, you will have some free time to explore the traditional square, and you will later stop to see the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani, built in the 16th century.

There will be some time for relaxing at Kalafatis beach before heading back to Mykonos Town with visits to the beaches of Ornos and Agios Ioannis on the way back. Finally you will come to a viewpoint where you can admire the stunning panoramic view of the town and the neighboring islands.

Food and drinks are not included in this tour so make sure to bring water and money or a packed lunch. Hotel transfer is also not included.

Mykonos: Half-Day Wine Tasting and Meal at a Local House

This unique experience begins with you being picked up from your location to go to the Mykonian Spiti, a traditional Mykonos home that shares the traditional ways of Mykonian living with visitors. You will be wholeheartedly welcomed into the dining room of the house by cult wine sommelier Mr. Stathis Pasoglou.

During the course you will have the opportunity to taste 6 different wines from prestigious and representative regions of Greece while being initiated to the dynamics of Greek wine varieties through the different stages of tasting.

The tasting of the wines will be accompanied by a snack of local products before a meal of traditional dishes prepared by the host of the Mykonian Spiti is served.

At the end of the experience you will be invited to express your sentiments in Mr. Stathis’ guestbook before you are returned back to your hotel or an alternative location of your choice.

This experience is not suitable for children under the age of 18 and all but gratuities are included.

Mykonos: 2-Hour Scuba Diving Mini Course for Beginners

During this 2-hour mini-course you will get to experience the thrill and freedom of scuba diving and the beauty of the marine world.

The professional PADI instructor will guide you through the basic safety concepts before putting on the diving equipment and swimming around underwater in a closely supervised environment as a part of completing the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Statement, which also includes a medical questionnaire.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age, and fulfil the medical requirements, but there is no need to have any previous diving experience to participate.

Many new divers decide to repeat the experience of scuba diving after having had their first experience.

Underwater photos are included in this mini-course as are soft drinks and full DAN insurance.

Ancient Delos & Mykonos South Beaches Cruise

This 7-hour tour starts as you depart from Mykonos with sails set for the ancient site of Delos Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece, if not in the world. The island was a holy sanctuary for a millennium, even before it was seen as the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis by the Olympian Greek mythology.

On the journey there you can sit back, breathe in the sea air and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and once the boat arrives on Delos you can choose to either stay on-board and enjoy swimming in the clear waters or go on a 2-hour tour of the island. Entrance fees are not included in the price of the tour.

After this the sails are set to the crystal clear waters on Mykonos south coastline with mesmerizing beaches like Elia, Ornos, Platys Gyalos, Psarou and Super Paradise where it is time to party, dance and have fun.

Lunch and drinks on-board the boat is included, hotel transfer is not.

From Mykonos: Full-Day Trip to Tinos Island

This experience begins in the new port of Tourlos on the north-west coast of Mykonos, your transfer here can be arranged by the organiser upon request, and it continues across the Aegean Sea to the neighboring island of Tinos, an island that is less explored than many other Greek islands are.

On Tinos you get to experience the authentic culture and traditional hospitality of Greece, travel up to the women’s monastery of Kechrovouni high up in the mountains and marvel at the stunning views that this place provides, stroll through the traditional village of Volax to see the basket weavers at work, see the amazing valley of the Venetian era dovecotes – the pigeon houses, be amazed by the marble art at Pyrgos and visit one of the most important churches of Greece at the Panagía Evangelístria, built around a miraculous icon to the Virgin Mary.

Before returning to Mykonos you also get to enjoy some free time with a coffee in the shade of a plane tree on the main square.
